Time for an update then.
So i’ve had a niggling injury for a little while now, I just can’t seem to shake it off. I have found that I am still able to run with it though.
So, what have I been up to?
Well, I did manage #mondaynightshoprun, our local independent running shoe and clothes supplier – The Lincolnshire Runner holds these Monday night social runs. I do find that it makes me miserable if I don’t make it to these great social runs, sometimes work doesn’t allow it, and that’s okay, however, when a niggle gets in the way… There are so many great people turning out for this, and it’s so nice that you may not see some from week to week, it’s very easy to catch up.
I also ran at Lincoln parkrun the other Saturday, weirdly, I was only one second from my PB time, the effort level didn’t even see that high. I felt a great sense of achievement with that.
On the Sunday of the same weekend, I entered the local Cross Country race held by Lincoln and District Runners. This was a 5 mile race on a looped course of the South Common. Dirty, muddy, cold and hilly. Did I mention DIRTY, MUDDY, COLD, AND HILLY! How did I find it? Not amazing, but very enjoyable, will I do it again? Probably.
I am still continuing to add the mileage to build my endurance and strength for my upcoming Marathon in April. I ran on Boxing day, totalling 14.5 miles continuously, my knee was sore towards the end but manageable. What is hard is the time on my own as the mileage increases, especially as I’m not taking music or other interruptions with me. It leaves a long time for thinking, or, overthinking. Something I’ll have to get used to.
I have now plucked up the courage to go and see Great Northern Physiotherapy in Lincoln for an assessment. I don’t feel that I can leave this niggling injuries any longer, I really want the best chance to complete my training and get to the start line in April feeling confident in my body and mind.
And finally,
What about the adidas Supernovas? Well as you’ve probably gathered by now that my training has been somewhat disjointed. I can say that I have rested the Supernovas up until my most recent parkrun and my most recent Recovery run yesterday. So how did they feel? Amazing, to be blunt. The parkrun, I found them responsive, plenty of grip on the less than dry surfaces, and super comfy. The Recovery run, no rubbing, super comfy, confidence inspiring, I think these are a shoe that definitely gets better with increased mileage, the minor issues I had during the first few outings are gone. They also continue to look great even when collecting varying degrees of muck and debris thats normal for this time of year.
That’s it for now, only a couple of running days left this year. So many memories from my first year of running, lots of highs, and only a few lows. Overall, so happy with my, 2016 Year of Running.
Happy New Year everyone.
